Sunday Morning Coffee: September 27, 2020

Dinner tonight is braised cod w

I’m trying to carve a bit of rest out of the morning, though there’s a lot going on in terms the whole work- and school-from-home situation and in the wider world. I’ve been quiet on here the past few weeks getting ready to launch the redesign of the site: ta da!

As part of the building and design process, I’m incorporating a newsletter, so sign-up if you want in on the first one going out before the end of the week.

What I’ve Been Reading Recently:

It’s a lighter list today, but I’m including some of the interesting links from the week below.

Eight types of self care.

If you didn’t already know, we are working more when we work from home.

About a week ago, my social feeds were filled (when not about RBG, racism, or climate change) by these links, sigh: this cartoondivorce made one woman’s marriage equal

Charlotte made a ton of outfits this summer with colored paper and tape, so I was super interested when I saw this: Karina Sharif is a fashion designer who makes tops out of paper.

We’re also reading Make Way for Ducklings on repeat (when we’re not reading the Ladybug Girl books on repeat), and the Boston Public Library has this: Sketchbooks for Make Way for Ducklings

What I’ve Been Cooking This Week:

Sunday: Chicken roasted with thyme & capers, potatoes, and green beans

Monday: Broccoli + sausage pasta with Trader Joe’s kale slaw on the side

Tuesday: Leftovers

Wednesday: Pumpkin curry (from Trader Joe’s) with rice, cauliflower and bell peppers

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Take-out pizza

Saturday: Lemon cod with pearl cous cous and kale salad

I also made Joy the Baker’s amazing sweet potato pie. Seriously, the recipe calls for a tablespoon of vanilla, which is just so perfect.

Coming up this week:

  • Breakfast for dinner (a perennial request from Charlotte): waffles
  • Quesadillas
  • Some kind of pasta bake
