It’s getting darker and colder, and we’ve had several drizzly days. It certainly feels like the seasons are shifting and fall is here.
Here’s what I’m eating and reading this week:
One of the most exciting books of the fall, I’ve been a big fan of Ann Patchett’s previous work and was really looking forward to this one. It started out slowly (I feel like I’ve read several books – like this and this – over the past few weeks that have taken on a similar pattern). Ann Patchett’s is different because the shift from ho-hum to sizzling was tangible (I can even pinpoint when it happened: pages 181 to 183). This is a very of-the-moment book, one I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about this fall. Ann Patchett certainly deserves the attention as one of the better authors out there right now, but the book can also stand alone on its own chops.
What I’m eating this week (in case you need a little meal-planning inspiration):
Monday: pan-seared salmon with roasted broccoli and potatoes
Tuesday: pizza (so exhausted)
Wednesday: leftovers
Thursday: vegetable and beef sloppy joes on whole wheat buns
Friday: mac & cheese, roasted broccoli
Saturday: wild rice soup and roasted cauliflower
Sunday: shrimp and lobster meat sautéed in lemony, butter-wine sauce (out to dinner with my parents)
