It’s been a glorious weekend, capping off what’s been a great start to the fall. All the other food blogs I follow are commenting on the change of the seasons, the end of the month, and the new recipes and holidays that are lining up in the months ahead.
I’m posting this on the late side today, having let myself lounge in bed with the windows open and a cup of coffee, just taking my time. We were out last night at a local restaurant, with a babysitter at home with the kids. Now that they’re not the tiniest of babies anymore, it feels a bit more feasible to get out, just the two of us, even if it doesn’t happen all that often. I’m also looking forward to connecting with some old friends and their families later this afternoon. I’ll be baking something sweet to bring to the party, though TBD on exactly what that will be. Here’s hoping everyone is enjoying their weekends.
Here’s what I’ve been eating and reading this week:
What I’m Reading this Week
An interesting read on millennials’ interest in HGTV’s ‘House Hunters’. While I don’t watch a ton of HGTV (we didn’t have cable for a long time), I definitely have my fair share of guilty-pleasure TV shows people could write opinion pieces about.
Talking to kids and teens about climate change; I actually think it’s important to show everyone (not just kids!) they can make a difference.
So, here’s a post (and what looks like will be a series) on Cup of Jo.
Some of Anthony Bourdain’s “most-treasured items”, are going up for auction.
I’ve noticed a trend for creamy butternut squash pasta recipes coming up on fall menus. I haven’t explored that yet, but I’m interested in making this recipe (slow cooker mustard-wine chicken via Half-Baked Harvest).
What I’m Cooking this Week
Weekly Menu Plan (in case you need ideas or inspiration):
Sunday: Leftover Greek chicken with orzo pilaf
Monday: Ordered pizza (again, so glad to have finally found a neighborhood favorite)
Tuesday: Tortellini with a creamy spinach and tomato sauce, simple green beans
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday: Pan-seared salmon, roasted broccoli, and my favorite perfect roasted potatoes
Friday: Breakfast for dinner (kind of a busy day, which turned into a busy night, so we punted a bit with dinner plans)
Saturday: Out to dinner with David at Field & Vine where we learned about pet nat wines and realized we’ve been a bit late to the party on that trend.
