Sunday Morning Coffee: August 11, 2019

It’s been a gorgeous week of weather here in Boston, and we’re trying to take advantage of all the city and the summer have to offer. We’ve been out and about doing as much al fresco dining and sipping as possible (which, with two little kids, actually isn’t all that possible). We’ve also been in celebration mode as David’s birthday was this past week. The timing of things got a bit thrown off because of work schedules, but we’ve had a lot of fun family time together.

Here’s what I’ve been eating and reading this week:

Day drinking is my favorite.

A favorite of mine recently: Katie Morwenna’s blog about marketing, planning and mindful living.

This is wild.

What I’m Cooking this Week

We baked a birthday cake for David early in the week, and as I’m writing, I’m waiting for a batch of Scotch Oaties to come out of the oven. He and I have wildly different opinions of what a good cookie is (apparently). Since it’s his birthday, I’m making these on special request. He loves them because they’re thin and crispy. (I like my cookies soft and chewy, so we’ll we see how these go… we haven’t had the chance to taste them yet!)

Also, both the kids tried sauerkraut for the first time this week, and shockingly, they both liked it. Will initially made a face like we’d just given him a lemon, but then he dove in for more.

Weekly Menu Plan (in case you need ideas or inspiration):

Sunday: Rosemary peach chicken skillet (leftovers)
Monday: Kielbasa sausages with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes (a special birthday dinner request)
Tuesday: Dinner at book club (a Greek-themed buffet)
Wednesday: Corn carbonara + garlic bread and green beans (from Chloe Flavor cookbook)
Thursday: Rye Fried Rice with baguette (from the Double Awesome Chinese Food cookbook)
Friday: Leftovers and a trip to the outdoor Aeronaut brewery pop-up
Saturday: Dinner at SRV Boston
